The Porto's nightlife is probably one of the most exciting in Portugal. Most cafes, discos and bars are concentrated in the "Ribeira" zone in the old Downtown of the city. These entertainment places have commonly outdoor seating and are frequented mostly by students.
Porto is home to port wine of course, and there are many wineries around the city where port wine is brewed. Strictly speaking, port wine can only be called port wine if the grapes are grown in the Douro valley, and the wine is brewed in Porto. Port wines come in many styles, with vintage port being the most expensive.
Port wine, an internationally renowned wine, is widely accepted as the city's dessert wine, especially being that the wine is made along the Douro River which runs through the city.
